1. Many historic buildings are being destroyed or replaced. What are the reasons for this? What should be done to preserve these buildings?

2. Several languages die every year and English is becoming used more and more as a world language. Many people feel this is a positive trend and that a world with fewer languages promotes harmony and understanding between people. Analyze both sides of this argument and provide your opinion.

3. It is more important for the government to invest in projects that benefit the whole community such as welfare programs and infrastructure improvements than for it to subsidize activities and institutions for the arts such as museums and art galleries as these will only benefit a minority. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

4. In the past, some cultural and historical objects were stolen in the museum. But now, people can use the Internet to see them freely. Some people think we do not need museum in the future. To what extend do you agree or disagree?

5. Some people think music plays an important role in society, while others believe music is simply a form of entertainment for individuals. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

1. Does travel help to promote understanding and communication between countries?

2. It is said that travel broadens the mind. What can we learn by traveling to other countries? Should we first explore our own countries? Discuss.

3. In many countries tourism is a major part of the economy, but it also causes environmental damage and ruins the places it exploits. It is argued that tourists should pay an additional tax to compensate for this damage. Do you agree?

4. In the past, people used to travel around to see the differences from their home country. Nowadays, however, the tourist places around the world are becoming increasingly similar. What is the cause of this similarity? Do you think that the advantages of this similarity outweigh the disadvantages?

5. Traveling by air causes damage to the environment. For this reason nonessential flights should be banned. Discuss and give your opinion.

Communication

1. Instant communication means death to grammar and spelling. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

2. Some people think a person can never understand the culture of a country unless he or she speaks the language of this country. Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

3. There is an opinion that people who speak more than one language are better at communication. Do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

4. In what way is body language a way of communication? What other ways do people communicate with each other?

5. Is intelligence innate, or we can improve it via learning?

6. Our personalities are determined as a result of genes and nothing can be done to alter our personality traits. Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

7. Some people work hard to achieve success, while for others it comes naturally. Discuss.

8. On an interview on managing position interviews are based around not only knowledge and experience, but also personality. Is leadership an innate skill? What other skills do companies look for in managers?
